The OSATHON Marathon is more than a race. It is a celebration of movement, community, biodiversity and regeneration in one of the most extraordinary places on Earth.
And for the very first time, runners will have the opportunity to take on a marathon route across Costa Rica's wild and beautiful Osa Peninsula.
Bringing together runners, local communities, conservationists and supporters from around the world, OSATHON is an opportunity to experience the Osa in a completely different way — on foot, alongside its Pacific coastline and surrounded by some of the greatest biodiversity on the planet.
Quite simply, this is one of the most incredible places you could ever run a marathon.
The route offers spectacular Pacific Ocean views, challenging terrain and the chance to experience the sights and sounds of the Osa's wild landscapes along the way. Runners will move through remote communities and along one of Costa Rica's most spectacular coastlines.
Whether you're chasing a personal best, taking on your first marathon or simply looking for an unforgettable challenge in support of a cause you believe in, your participation will make history as part of the first-ever OSATHON.
RUNNING FOR REGENERATION
The OSATHON is a fundraising event supporting The Osa Foundation, a Costa Rican registered non-profit and community fund working to strengthen community-led environmental and social initiatives across the Osa Peninsula.
After the costs of delivering the event have been covered, all remaining funds raised through OSATHON will go directly towards a selected local initiative that is helping to protect, restore or strengthen this extraordinary region.
Ahead of the event, The Osa Foundation will select a beneficiary project from a range of inspiring conservation and community initiatives on the Osa Peninsula. The chosen project will be announced before race day, allowing every participant to know exactly what their registration and fundraising efforts are helping to support.
This means that every registration, donation and kilometre run will contribute towards meaningful, locally led action.

ABOUT THE RACE
Stretching from the remote shores of Playa Carate to the vibrant town of Puerto Jiménez, the route follows the iconic Route 245 through the heart of the Osa Peninsula of Costa Rica - one of the most biodiverse regions on Earth.
Runners will travel 26.2 miles through a constantly changing landscape of tropical rainforest, rivers, coastal plains, and rural communities. The terrain is varied, featuring long flat sections, gentle rolling hills, and a handful of climbs that reflect the peninsula's natural topography. While the route presents a rewarding challenge, it remains accessible to runners of all levels.
The Osa's tropical climate adds to the adventure. Warm temperatures, high humidity, and the energy of the surrounding rainforest create an authentic endurance experience unlike any city marathon. Every kilometer is immersed in the sights, sounds, and atmosphere of Costa Rica's wild Pacific coast.What makes this route truly exceptional is its setting. With Corcovado National Park nearby and vast stretches of intact rainforest surrounding the course, runners are treated to spectacular scenery from start to finish. Towering trees, lush jungle, rushing rivers, and glimpses of the Pacific Ocean create a backdrop unlike any other race. Along the way, participants may spot scarlet macaws overhead, monkeys in the canopy, and countless other species that call the Osa home.More than a marathon, this is an opportunity to experience one of the world's last great wild places on foot - connecting challenge, adventure, and conservation in a single unforgettable journey.
